NEW STARTING STAND AT FIELD!
James Houck has graciously and generously donated a deluxe home-built starting stand for club use.
This design is a great idea and boosts our ability to start and work on our planes safely.
Make sure that you give Jim a big thank you next time you see him! Rumor has it that he is busy
planning construction of the next one, but you will have to ask him...
SAFETY CLARIFICATION
All pilots need to fly from behind the net unless they are taking off a new
plane on its first flight. After take-off they are to move behind the net fence.
Only pilots who have permission from the Board of Directors to do a special
demonstration (e.g. 3-D flying) may fly in front of the fence during that demonstration.
If a pilot wants to practice for an event in front of the fence, he must get
permission from a club officer at the field. If no officers are present, then the
pilot must get the OK each pilot on the field and only that pilot may fly at that time.
CLUB 40 RACING SEASON UNDERWAY
The Club 40 racing season is again underway and again HCAM will be hosting a race
this summer. There is a location change for the May 3 race. Please
check out the flyer
and try to be active in the racing circuit this sseason.
NEW LOCAL HOBBY SHOPS
We all know the importance of keeping our money here in Texas whenever someone can
earn our business. There have been two new additions to the local hobby shop scene
lately.
Be sure to check out The Hobby Express in Cedar Park.
The owner has expressed to me that their prices are the same as Tower Hobbies.
Round Rock Hobbies is another local-ish
shop that has been supporting our club lately. This store features a shop where
you can work on your aircraft and a lounge with internet access and the RealFlight
simulator.
Be sure to support those guys as the work to support us!
BIG BIRD SCHEDULED
HCAM has brought back our Big Bird event and it had been scheduled for October 11-12, 2008.
This will be an AMA sanctioned event and we are very excited for the return of this
great get together. Bobby Yount will be the Contest Director for HCAM's Big Bird and
we will need big participation from the membership to make it a success. Feel free to
contact Bobby
and let him know how you are able to help.
CLUB TRAINER BACK IN FLIGHT
Joe Seitz and Oscar McNabb have completely refurbished and restored to flying condition
a Hobbico .60 size trainer.
Our club trainer is ready to go with a donated transmitter and will be at the field on
Saturdays for authorized HCAM instructors to use with students.
MANY, MANY sincere thanks to Joe and Oscar for the hours they donated to the club
restoring this aircraft. Thanks to Ron Simmons for his donations to this project as well.
HCAM is extraordinarily lucky to have those members----guys that always give
and give and give to support the club. If you see these guys at the field, let
them know you appreciate their efforts.
